Rosemount Estate 2004 Cabernet Merlot

On Friday night Greg, Martin, Roger, and I split a bottle of the Rosemount Estate 2004 Cabernet Merlot blend. I have tried this once before, and I have also tried the Grenache Shiraz blend from Rosemount.

I like the Cabernet Merlot a little better than the Grenache Shiraz. And for $4 per bottle at Trader Joe’s, both are a very good deal. Both blends are fairly smooth and light-bodied, but I found them to be a little too acidic for my taste. The Grenache Shiraz is the sharper of the two in this respect. Maybe if I had decanted them I would have enjoyed them a little more.

But, like I said, both blends are a good deal for $4. If you have $6 to spend, I would recommend trying something else. But, if you’re looking at $4 and below, this is on the upper end of the performers in that range.
