Drinking At Low Limit Hold ‘Em
March 21, 2006 – 8:46 amI just wrote about the quick trip to Vegas Ariele and I took this weekend. I played some low limit Hold ‘Em at Excalibur for a grand total of four hours or so, and of course I had to hit the free beer while I was playing.
I had a Miller Lite on Sunday night, and then I had a Miller Lite followed by a Miller Genuine Draft (MGD) on Monday. I could have had any beer they had for free. Why did I choose Miller Lite and MGD? I don’t know. They’re light. I don’t have to worry about buzzing after a couple of them. But they’re enough to take the edge off the nerves I inevitably get when I set at a poker table.
The highlight of the weekend beer-wise was when I asked our cocktail waitress at Excalibur if they had Miller High Life. I’m playing (very) low limit Hold ‘Em at Excalibur. Why wouldn’t I expect them to have High Life? She was puzzled, to say the least. “Oh, Miller Lite? Or the Genuine Draft?” she asked. “No High Life?” “We have the Lite. Or would you like the Draft?” I went with the MGD.
So I suppose this makes it “official” that High Life definitely sits lower on the totem pole than either Miller Lite or MGD (being that Excalibur has Corona and Newcastle, both of which are higher quality than High Life). I would have guessed that, but I needed the Excalibur to prove it to me.
